Eli was gasping prayers. "Pl...please...Go...God...God...help...send....help....s...ple...please...for....m.m....me...God...for...forgi...forgiv...him...God..." His dad stood over him. "I don't want you anymore. Your mom was wrong. I'm glad I left the littled b****. You're not worth anything. I should have dumped you on the streets. Oh well." He stomped his boot on Eli's chest, cracking his ribs. "AHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Eli screamed then choked. He had never felt so much pain. God please help me! God let me live!! Oh God let me...wait...I'm cold! I can't breathe! Awe man this is it? Am I dying? Am I dead? I....can't..breathe! Just when Eli's father pressed harder on his chest, Alec ran at him! "GET OFF HIM!" Alec pulled him down on the concrete. Eli's dad gave a hard jab in Alec's mouth and got up, got in his truck, and sped off. Alec got up and turned to see Eli still gasping. Jaci ran back to them with Eli's aunt. Alec got down beside Eli. Jaci held his left hand and Alec held his right. "Come on E. You gotta stay awake. We got the paramedics comin for you. Come on. Squeeze my hand if you hear me. Squeeze my hand as hard as you can. Stay with me, Eli." The ambulance pulled up. They put Eli on a stretcher and in the back. Only Alec and Jaci rode with them. Eli's aunt(Lacy) drove in her car behind them. "Come on E. Stay up." They cleaned out the wound. It burned worse than anything Eli had ever felt. "AHHH! MAKE IT STOP! STOP THE BURNING PLEASE!!!" He squeezed Alec's hand so hard that Alec winced. Jaci stroked his hair and held his hand. "Shhh. It's gonna be ok, Eli. I'm here. You're gonna be ok." Eli was struggling so bad at the hospital from the pain that he had to be restrained. "STOP THE BURNING!!! MAKE IT STOP NOW!!!" Jaci kissed his forehead. The doctor tried to push her away. "No wait! I can calm him down!" The doctors rolled their eyes. "We need him calm or we can't save him. Let the girl try." Jaci pushed past them all and went to Eli, who was still thrashing around madly. "Shhh. Eli please shhh." She kissed his neck and he stopped thrashing. His eyes were still wild and he thrashed every now and then but Jaci stroked his hair and even sang to him under her breath until he was calm enough. But that was when things got worse. His gums turned a sickly white. "HE'S IN SHOCK! Get her outta here!" Jaci was led away, the image of Eli's eyes rolling back stayed in her mind as she and Alec sat outside in the waiting room. He wasn't in shock. Eli has epilepsy. It was a seizure.
