Kali waited in the blocks, ready to burst out at any time. "Ready?" She ducked her head. "Set!" She stretched her legs up, letting her butt in the air like the other runners. Then....the gun fired. She dashed out of the blocks and before she knew it, she was neck in neck with another girl. The sprint was 200 meters. She was halfway there. She poured on the speed and repeated those same words: "Til my better is best. Til my better is best." She came within three meters of the end and shouted "MY BETTER IS BEST!!!!" Then she woke up. She looked around her room. Her mom called her. "Ready, Kali?" She yelled back exitedly. "Yea mom!" She was excited. She was more than that because if it wasn't too pricey, she'd be able to get stem cells or a prostetic leg. Then she'd be better..."And my better best." she whispered to herself as she hopped into her wheelchair and wheeled her way to the door.
