The fist kept coming down on Sam. Alec watched as a man beat an older version of his girlfriend. He couldn't move and he swore he was yelling but he heard nothing coming out of his mouth. The man then pulled off Sam's pants. SAM! LET HER GO!!! LEAVE HER THE H*** ALONE NOW!!! SAM!!! He could do nothing but sit and cry and watch as the man went back and forth between beating and raping her. Her body became more and more bruised and her wails became weaker and weaker until the man had beaten her to where she looked like she was going to die at any time. Sam looked at Alec, past the man and straight to him. She gave one panicked look and then took her last breath. She closed her eyes and moved no more. Alec fell to his knees and wailed. He couldn't hear himself crying...but...laughing? The man turned around...no...Alec turned around...

"I'M SORRY, SAM!" Alec sat up straight in his bed. He was sweating as he looked around in his room. Finally he felt a soothing hand in the dark touch his burning face and stroke it lightly. "Sam? You still here?" He reached out and felt her shoulder. She was sitting on his bed with him because his mom allowed them to stay in the same room...with a baby monitor  (camera included) at his bed and the door wide open. "Shh. Yes I'm still here. Calm down. You need to lay down. You don't have a fever so you're probably just hot." She put her hand on his chest and laid him down. When did I take my shirt off? She put a damp, cold towel on his forehead. Alec sighed in comfort. "I took your shirt off. You didn't have a fever but you sweat clean through the shirt." "I'm fine, babe. You can go back to sleep." She laid down and he held her. "With you sweating like that, you're gonna need to drink lots of water, ok?" "Yes ma'am Dr. Greyson." His smile faded and even in the dim light, Samantha could tell something was wrong. "Alec? What's wrong?" Alec sighed and told her about the dream. "Baby it was just a bad dream. It's never going to happen." He turned over and put his hands on the back of his neck. "NO! You don't understand, Sam! I always have a fear that one day I'll hurt or kill you. I'm afraid that if I think it, I'll do it and then you wont love me anymore. I'm afraid to hurt anyone. It's been this way since I watched K-Mar get shot! I just don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt anyone. What's wrong with me? I'm a monster. A freaking monster." Sam kissed his back and he tensed up. She rubbed her hand over his back and shoulders. "Nothing's wrong with you. I know how you are. You're mom told me about that. She says...she says you wont go to find out what it is..." "NO! I'm not going to the doctor. They'll put me in an insane asylum or rehab...like...like Todd." Todd was Alec's older brother. He had to go to rehab for extended methamphetamine use. He's told Alec that they treat you like you're about to die in there and it feels like they wait for you to die. Sam knew this story already. She put her arm around his waist and kissed his shoulder. "Shh. I know it's scary, Alec. But your mom knows it's nothing they can put you away for, I promise. We think it's just OCD." "But they do take you to rehab for that." "Not the one your mom wants you to go to. It's nothing like Todd's rehab. She even got the opinion of one of her friends who had OCD. She said it helped her and the man there only works with like five people per group and only three groups. Each group is filled with five people that are about the same age and they only stay there for a month. You can still talk to us on the phone they have at the rehab so see? You'll get better but you have to let your mom take you. Please, baby? I promise they'll make you better and you can go in the summer so you wont miss a thing." Alec sat up and Sam did too. "You promise they wont keep me forever?" "I wouldn't ever let them. I love you too much. If they tried, I'd kidnap you." Alec hugged her and kissed her. They laid down again. Sam laid on Alec's chest. He put one hand behind his head and the other arm around Sam. "We just have one problem." Sam looked up at him. "What?" Alec kissed her forehead. "I think the baby monitor caught us kissing." Sam laughed. "Goodnight, Alec." "Goodnight, Sam. Love you more than anything." "Love you too, Alec. And really?" "Of course. I'm only going to rehab to get better for you."
